Grave Reference His grave is in the middle of the left-hand side of the churchyard as you approach from the gate.  He has a white oval topped headstone with the badge of the Anti-tank regiment with ‘Ubique Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt’ surmounted by a crown, in the centre of a hollowed cross.  At the top: 1090057 Gunner/ E.C.E. Pearson/ 64th Anti-tank Regiment RA/ Q.O.R. Glasgow Yeomanry/15th February 1941 age 29/ Below badge: ‘Gone but not forgotten/Never shall thy memory fade/Sweet thoughts ever linger/Where thou art laid.’

Ernest Pearson’s gravestone in Black Notley Churchyard

Husband of Sophie Jane Pearson, of Hackney, London.

Each year Ernest Pearson’s name is read out by local children at Black Notley’s remembrance Sunday service.
